WHAT WILL MY CARER DO?

The answer is different for each person, because the carer will allocate their time as it best suits you. An early discussion will soon establish what is needed, and that can be adjusted if circumstances change. These are some examples:

PERSONAL CARE

  • Help with personal hygiene

  • Washing, including help to bath or shower

  • Oral hygiene

  • Dressing

  • Assistance to use the toilet or commode

  • Incontinence care

  • Help with feeding where necessary

  • Mobility support

  • Prompting or administering medication

  • Liaising with other health and social care professionals

DOMESTIC CARE

  • Meal preparation

  • Companionship and friendship

  • Housework, including cleaning, laundry and ironing

  • Gardening

  • Pet care

  • Help to pursue your hobbies

  • Transport

  • Shopping, trips, visits and errands

  • Getting out and about

  • Recreational support and social events

RESPITE CARE

We could arrange respite care for carers to allow your main carer a break from their regular duties or provide support as and when it is needed. It could be just for an hour or two or for whole days, if required.

You may simply need companionship and wellbeing checks. You may, however, need full support, especially if you have complex care needs. Our approach is based on your usual routines, to make the change in circumstances as easy for you as possible.

NIGHT CARE

As well as day care, we can arrange night care assistance so that your regular carer can get a good night’s sleep, if we have capacity.
